Patrick Hoelck is a photographer and director, famed for his use of dark and light as a method for illuminating what is most fascinating about his subject. His ongoing explanation for this trademark ‘darkness’ in his subjects is:
It (darkness) does not hide, pervert, destroy, or malign. Instead, it emboldens, signifies, nurtures, resurrects an individual for who they are: sexuality and celebrity status are consequential of being human-of being a man or woman, actor or actress, singer or musician, model or cult personality; glamour and attitude are consequential of one's pride and self-respect.
Hoelck’s extensive client list is too numerous to condense. Some highlights includes magazine editorials for top US and UK publications, press and CD photos for bands from Radiohead to Ben Harper to Ciara, portraits of actors like Kanye West and the cast of CSI, and music videos for artists of the likes of Alicia Keys and the Deftones.
Patrick Hoelck divides his time between Los Angeles and New York City.
